Recently I met with a young professional who owned life and disability insurance. Since purchasing those policies his life has changed for the better. His income increased and he became a father. We consulted about his changed situation and discussed how his insurance was inadequate in his new circumstances. He understood how increasing coverage brought peace of mind and security to his growing family.
A couple in their mid 60's were concerned about the potential costs of long term care. We discussed their concerns and after understanding what they wanted I was able to whittle down the myriad of options for them to consider. They decided to implement a plan that would leverage their assets, give them peace of mind and return their money in the event they did not need long term care.
Recently two business owners completed a Buy Sell agreement, however they left it unfunded. In the event that one of the partners died (or became disabled), the survivor would not have the money to buy out the deceased (or disabled) partner's share. After consulting with me, I pointed out the issues of an unfunded agreement. They saw the need for life, overhead expense, and individual disability insurance to ensure the business survival.
